My ears need cleaning...

There's something strangely apropos about Space running ads for Viagra and other erectile-dysfunction drugs during the broadcast of the Voyager episode "Threshold". At least, in my mind... because I keep mishearing it as "a reptile dysfunction."
Let's see... what's happened since Saturday night's update? Not much, I'm afraid. Let's see... had dinner at Toby's with
cuteteenboy Sunday night. I'm babysitting some of his belongings at the moment - one duffel bag and my backpack are in my hallway, packed full of his stuff. Good thing I don't actually need my backpack this week.
TT Programming stuff continues to come together, I think... though the more I look at the numbers, the more I'm convinced that we've created too many panels this year:
Even if we stop adding panel ideas now, we still have 14 more hours planned than we have room in the schedule. Unfortunately, we're still developing ideas with experts from the Centre Of Forensic Sciences and artist guest, Geoffrey Mandel. Time for some creative shuffling. Either that, or we have to hope that panelists don't sign up for some of them, and they get dropped. Mind you, this is probably a better problem to have than the one we had last year, where ideas were running short a few weeks prior to the deadline, and we had to scramble to get over the 200-hour threshold. (There's that word again. Reptile dysfunction.)
Pretty much everyone on my flist has been posting about Belinda Stronach's defection to the Liberal Party, so I shall forbear, except to say this: I'm a lot more confident that the government will not fall this week than I was two days ago. Maybe now they'll actually be able to get some work done instead of inflicting this circus act on us.
I've applied for three more jobs in the past 24 hours - two at CIBC and one at Sun Life. It's getting annoying that I haven't gotten any interviews recently. I know my resume is a good one - are so many mainframe developers out of work at the moment that employers are getting overwhelmed with resumes and I'm just unlucky?

Date: 2005-05-17 09:43 pm (UTC)Just wanted to let you know that I still haven't heard anything from dear cuteteenboy re. being a panelist, so I have yet to sign up for any panels or whatever. Is this hindering my chance to be on any at all?
Didn't wanna keep bugging you personally about this... just thought you might be able to give a kick-in-the-butt for me :) (that, and I don't have his email -so...*wink*)
*hopes you're well and not too overworked for the con*

Date: 2005-05-17 09:49 pm (UTC)You shouldn't have any problem getting onto panels - the tracks you tend to request seem to have plenty of room still, assuming that there hasn't been a huge number of requests from panelists made to team members since the last database update.

Overworked? Me? Nah... now, if I had a full-time job at the moment, then I'd be overworked. Instead, I'm just underpaid. ;)

Date: 2005-05-18 05:10 am (UTC)You know, we could take a look and anything that seems sort of iffy to begin witht hat has no panelists we could drop right now.
It's just a thought.

Date: 2005-05-18 09:30 am (UTC)Speaking of panels I haven't heard anything back from Darien about my panels, (if any) Panel suggestion, (as per you), anything. Is this normal? I did get a message from a girl who said she was supposed to be my panelist liason but that she had been asked to switch me to Darien, (she didn't say by who).
I'm still trying to get a copy of powerpoint or slideshop pro from someone. -_-"

Powerpoint is part of MS Office - try looking in c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office (assuming your computer is set up the way mine is, and I haven't changed this from the default). There ought to be a file called POWERPNT.EXE.

Date: 2005-05-18 02:04 pm (UTC)For the love of Ghod! Don't put the panel on opposite Rene or Katee or the autograph line! LOL I want to see how the real thing compares to TV. I want to go to the panel. Oh, don't put it on against Karaoke either! I seem to remember that happening with the QAF panels. LOL
I'm teasin'. Kinda. Do whatever. I'll work it out. ;-)
