Well, that was better than last week...

We'll start with the important stuff. :) Tonight's scores: 159, 169, 144. I'm disappointed that I finished that third game with three consecutive open frames (including two splits) as I was on a pace for 183 through the first seven frames. At least I didn't lose any more pins off my average.
h8torun made me promise that I would 'fess up to the fact that she beat me in that third game with a 155. Tonight was her first time at the bowling alley in about six weeks, so I thought she did very well.
Alas, we lost all three games again this week - Randy and Mario weren't there, and while Mario had a bowloff, Randy had arranged for Ralph to fill in for him. Unfortunately, Ralph didn't show up. We have no idea why. We probably would have won at least the first two games had he been there, though the other team was getting tons of breaks that we weren't getting. They'd hit the headpin dead-on and get strikes; we'd do the same and get splits. Argh.
I know this is old news by now, but since I only just walked in the door about ten minutes ago, the Star Trek teaser trailer has been posted at IESB.net. For the three of you who haven't seen it already...
It doesn't show a heck of a lot - heck, it doesn't really show anything, and this is footage that was made just for the teaser trailer, so it's not even going to be in the finished movie - but I like it anyway. The viral marketing campaign ought to be fun to follow.
If all goes well, I'm going to try to make it out to see Cloverfield tomorrow night with some friends, so I'll be able to see it on the big screen. I promise to stay and watch the movie, though, and not walk out after the teaser trailer. ;)
Elsewhere... I had a fairly productive week at work this week. I'm a little annoyed that the client seems to want significant changes to stuff that I spent a lot of time doing recently, but that's what happens when the client tells you, "I want [x], but I don't know how I want it to work or what I want it to look like. Wing it, and I'll tell you afterwards if I like it or not." It feels sometimes like I'm wasting a lot of time.

Date: 2008-01-20 09:00 am (UTC)And yes, the teaser trailer for Star Trek was so much better on the big screen. OMG, that was beautiful. I saw details that I hadn't noticed on my monitor, particularly background shots of the ship as the welders were working. I didn't hear any catcalls, but there was a lot of chatter in the theatre that started up after the reveal and the voiceover. I think I heard more negativity after the movie itself ended. (Chris Knight said, "What did they expect?". I responded, "An ending, maybe?")

I wish I had done exactly that. I thought Cloverfield sucked rocks.

Date: 2008-01-20 09:07 am (UTC)When the movie ended, there was a lot of "WTF?" from the audience around us. Chris Knight said, "What did they expect?" I responded, "An ending, maybe?" But I'd been forewarned that the movie ended abruptly, much like Blair Witch.
I'll say more in response to your own post...

Date: 2008-01-21 01:23 pm (UTC)Ok, that is just sad, and ultimately only adds fuel to the general public view that Star Trek movies suck. ST movies have a history of having trailers which are pretty close to being polar opposites of the actual movie story / plot. The trailers make the movie 'seem' to go right, people get hyped about it, and then the movie goes left. End result: people are disappointed as they were fooled into spending their $$$ on one thing, and received something else.
Making footage specific for a trailer is just bad news. Why can't they use regular footage? Is the movie really going to be that bad? Is paramount so scared that it will suck? If the movie has any feet to it, they should be able to use regular footage and not worry.
What are they trying to hide?
