My bus ticket is purchased, leaving Toronto at 12:30pm tomorrow and arriving in Ann Arbor at 7:05pm. Apparently the return portion is good for a year, but I only packed enough clothes to last until Monday (and I have to pay my rent on Tuesday anyway).

US cash has been procured.

My suitcase and backpack are packed, except for the toiletries I will need in the morning. I've even packed extra batteries for the Discman (yes, I know, I'm hopelessly out of date) so that I can listen to music on the bus.

Is it wrong for me to be nervous about this trip? I mean, I'm sure it will go swimmingly. But that doesn't help.

In other news, I joined [livejournal.com profile] aprilsnark, [livejournal.com profile] chanilye, [livejournal.com profile] scapersuse and [livejournal.com profile] garuto at the Granite this evening for dinner with David, an Australian friend of [livejournal.com profile] aprilsnark's. It was quite an enjoyable evening. Note to self: do not try to pick a kiwi-filled chocolate out of the box with only my fingernails. I'm not that dextrous.

Now, I just hope I manage to get to sleep at a decent hour so that I can make it to the bus terminal in plenty of time.

Edited to add: all you people who are talking about Lance Bass coming out of the closet, could you please use his last name? I'm getting confused seeing posts about "Lance came out of the closet!!!" Dang it, I came out 20 years ago... :P

How long are you going to be in Ann Arbor? I should be back in the area, Sunday, for around dinner time.

Hope the visit goes well. ;)

I'll be there until Monday, so yes, I'm sure we can arrange something.

Hope the visit goes well. ;)

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm going for two reasons:

1. Con-Versation (http://www.con-versation.com), a relaxicon in Novi
2. To meet [livejournal.com profile] brendand.

Not necessarily in that order. ;)

Definitely not in that order, since you are going to Ann Arbor first.:)

Well, in fairness, I'm there to visit someone in particular, so I might not have had much time anyway. ;)

:P

I'll be 39 in a few weeks.

Yeah, I know you are. You missed our little conversation earlier this week. :D

39...just slightly older than Jim. *damn older boys*

Oops.

Well, I was running around a lot all week and under the circumstances, it was easy to lose track of things.

I thought you liked older boys? ;)

Have a great time. And if you can find someone from Novi to drive you to Detroit, make sure you go to Mexican town for really great food.

And if you need to talk more about incorporation, we can do that when you are back.

I'm sure there will be at least one trip - I'll mention it to [livejournal.com profile] brendand. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds good!

You're not hopelessly out of date for using a Discman... although MP3 players are damned convenient for long trips (exempli gratia, driving from Long Island to Toronto... I am SO not looking forward to that).

Thanks - on both counts. :)

I think I've seen all of two people using Discmans since iPods first became common. I feel like some kind of caveman whenever I pull mine out to change the disc.

I use a disc-based MP3 player... kinda nice, I think, 'cause it also plays CDs. ;)

I still kind of hate myself for giving in to iPod culture, but the MP3 player I was fond of, broke after about a year and it got to the point where I figured: Why spend 100$ a year for a low storage MP3 player when you can just plunk down 279$ (CAD) and have it last for four years or more.

I have the 4GB nano. It has served me well thus far - but the damn thing picks up scratches like you wouldn't believe. By the time I got a case for it, it was too late. :/

Hiho,

I've even packed extra batteries for the Discman (yes, I know, I'm hopelessly out of date)

:Andrew makes note to never mention he still has a working casette-based Walkman: :)

Frankly, I hated discmans. Too damned big to stick in a pocket. Though my first mp3-playing walkman was disc-based.

Cu,
Andrew

You're not the only one. ;)

Yeah, I keep mine in the upper pocket of my backpack. The problem with that is that I end up getting tangled up in the earphone cord, or if I'm sitting on the subway and have my backpack on the floor, I have to lean forward slightly because the cord isn't long enough.

US cash has been procured.

Well if your money wasn't so gay you might get away with passing it off as US currency!

ROFL!

Well, the way things are going, before long the Canadian dollar will be worth more than the US dollar again. Then why would I want to? :P

And Brazilian money looks just as much like Monopoly money to me, given the pictures on Wikipedia. :P

Did you ever see the Simpsons episode in which they go to Rio? Homer gets kidnapped, and when they finally make the exchange, Homer for the ransom, the kidnappers open up the suitcase and see pink and purple and green bills, and say, "Boy, our money sure is gay!"

From: [identity profile] boywhocantsayno.livejournal.com
I don't recall seeing that one, but that doesn't mean that I haven't. I do watch The Simpsons occasionally, but not regularly.

And I think coloured money is pretty. All green? Boooooo-ring.

Considering that [livejournal.com profile] iangurudata's goal at the TT20 dance this year was "to dress gayer than Lance," I don't think that's a problem. :P

Did you ever see that KITH skit in which Scott walks out of his house, dressed "gayer than Lance," and Dave rides by on his bike and shouts, "Fag!" So Scott goes back in and gays it down a bit, and gives it another try. Dave rides by again and shouts, "Fag!" So Scott gives it another try, and comes out dressed like a construction worker. Dave rides by and shouts, "Fag!" Finally, Scott comes out dressed in a bear suit, and mauls Dave as he rides by again!
