I got two - yes, TWO! - calls regarding jobs today... one for a 6-month contract with Honda (at Finch and Morningside - ick), and one from a lady at the Dominion of Canada Insurance Company, to which I'd applied so long ago that I don't even remember what the job was. The latter is a permanent position, though, not contract. My interview is next Tuesday afternoon at 1 - she had initially scheduled me for 10am (I didn't want to sound lazy by requesting an afternoon interview), but five minutes after hanging up the phone she called back and requested that we re-schedule for later, as I'm going to be having two one-hour interviews with two different managers and apparently someone else had the meeting room booked for 11.

I suppose this means I should make an appointment to get my hair done this weekend... I hope my regular stylist hasn't quit yet. Last time I went he asked for my email address and phone number because he was thinking about leaving Testarossa and going solo, but I haven't heard anything from him.
In other news... something made me go over to Television Without Pity last night and check out the QAF forum. My, there's a lot of hatred for the finale out there... I didn't think it was particularly wonderful (it needed to be two hours, for one), but the venom is dripping from every post over there. And it seems that there was a while there when there was no QAF forum because the shipper wars got so nasty that the moderators decreed that there shall be no QAF discussion. I guess that, with the show now being over, they figured it was relatively safe to allow discussion again... and the members are making up for lost time. Even given that the show airs a week earlier in the States than it does here, there were 22 pages in the thread. And I thought
queerasfolkfans was bad...
Let's see, what else is going on... I seem to be having some kind of nutrient imbalance. I've been snacking on pickles lately... could just be that they're all I have to snack on.
That was quite a comeback by the Jays tonight, wasn't it? Every now and then I think the return of the glory days is just around the corner...
There's a rumour afoot that the Leafs are going to sign Steve Thomas. I'm not sure how I feel about this - the guy is 42 years old, and IMO he's been on a decline since 1998-99. Having been off for a year could rejuvenate him, or he could be finished. For what it's worth, the team denies that they have any plans to sign him. Then again, they were saying the same thing about Eric Lindros...

Date: 2005-08-17 02:21 am (UTC)Of course, since the only way I'm fathering children is if someone jerks me off and steals the sperm while I'm in a coma, the whole thing is rather amusing to begin with.

It would explain where all these descendants are going to come from. ;)
(Leave it to you to make that suggestion. :P )

Date: 2005-08-17 06:17 am (UTC)Out of curiosity, what were the big objections to the finale? Finales rarely please everyone, but I thought they handled things pretty well.
Was it the non-wedding? Ted and Emmett not getting a little home in the country? Or some controversy I've totally missed?

Date: 2005-08-17 07:04 am (UTC)I don't want the Leafs to sign Thomas. I mean, he was a good player, for sure, but with the disappearance of many of the Leafs' older players, this is the perfect time for the team to build on it's (very much needed) youth movement. That said, the Leafs are in need of some good wingers. I mean, there are some solid centres in Sundin, Lindros (provided he doesn't explode on the ice) and Allison. O'Neill is probably winger material, but aside from that, there are a lot of solid goal scorers. So, sign a winger, but someone younger than Thomas, please.
