lance_sibley: (Go Leafs Go!)
I'm sure the two Excedrins I took helped, as did the nap and forcing myself to eat dinner. I almost feel human again. Though I had some strange almost-dreams while I was napping, involving the last section of my VB assignment that I still have to complete. I say "almost-dreams" because I'm not sure if I was really asleep, or if I was just thinking about the assignment before falling asleep. I know that some of it made it into a dream, because I recall testing the code and finding that it worked, when in actuality I haven't written a single line of code today.

I'm ashamed to admit that I slept through most of the second period of the Leafs game. When I laid down, Jocelyn Thibault was in goal for Pittsburgh, and when I woke up, they were talking about Marc-Andre Fleury coming in to replace him after the fourth Leaf goal. (Dammit, that game should never have gone to overtime. Ponikarovsky made a stupid, stupid move - when there are less than ten seconds left in the game, you're in the offensive zone and the other team has pulled their goalie, I don't care if their entire team is bearing down on you or if you're trying to help a teammate set a franchise record for career goals - shoot the puck at the net.)

Oh, and I forgot to mention something in this afternoon's post which may amuse people: about two minutes into my conversation with Tom at Woody's last night, he suddenly said, "Has anyone ever told you that you look like the PC guy?" *facepalm*

Memo

Don't try to drink like a 21-year-old. You're 38, and can't do it any more. It should not take 48 hours to get over a hangover. And then you have hundreds of emails and friendslists posts to read to get caught up.

Okay, now that that's overwith...

Let's see... Wednesday, my bowling team was going to be one person short again because Randy had an accident and fell last weekend, requiring him to spend several hours at the emergency room. So I called up [livejournal.com profile] cuteteenboy, because I know he likes to bowl, and got him to come and fill in. My first game was terrible. Even [livejournal.com profile] h8torun beat me (it won't happen again, Genie! :P ). I think I had five splits, and ended up with a 118. I managed to pull it together in the second game - the beer may have helped relax me - and got a 206. (Sparing the 6-7-10 was an indication that it was going to be a better game, I think.) My third game was around my average, so I ended up a little above average on the evening.

Following the evening at the bowling alley, [livejournal.com profile] cuteteenboy wanted to go downtown. I had no plans for Thursday, and I wanted him to take some of his stuff home with him (okay, I wanted my couch back), so we headed downtown to Pegasus. Six pints (each) later... hence the memo above. I spent pretty much all day Thursday lying on the couch wishing for death, missed the First Thursday pubnight, and still don't really feel like myself. Ugh. In fact, I had to turn down [livejournal.com profile] elizard100's offer of her ticket to see Jon Stewart. I'm sure that under normal circumstances, I would have loved to have seen him. Sigh. Let that be another example in the lesson about not trying to drink like a 21-year-old. (Though the above-mentioned 21-year-old was in pretty rough shape himself after all that...)

Today was pretty dull too, except for phone calls from [livejournal.com profile] elizard100 and [livejournal.com profile] plaidlibrarian. In fact, I don't even know why I'm bothering to post, except to let people know that I'm still alive... if only barely.

I finally got around to RSVPing to an invitation I received a week ago for Thanksgiving dinner this Sunday night (note to my non-Canadian friends: that's not a typo, our Thanksgiving is this Monday), so that should be fun. Though I think I'll be skipping the alcohol.
