As I figured, I was a bit hung over today. It wasn't too bad, though - I guess staying up until 5:30 and drinking water was helpful. I still felt a bit "blah", though.

This just popped up in my Inbox:

This arrived courtesy of something called MinorityProfessionalNetwork.com. I have no idea who they are, or how I got on their mailing list... I suspect they got my address off one of the LGBT Yahoogroups I'm on, as I occasionally get spam from other organizations that seem to be related to the topic of some of my groups. I guess they didn't have enough fun grilling James Hormel when he was appointed ambassador to the Netherlands (or was it Belgium?), and they're looking for more queer ambassadors. Either that, or they're looking to rile up the religious right some more...

I also finally got around to going through some of the Workopolis emails that had been collecting in my Inbox over the past couple of weeks. Most of the positions being advertised were still open, so I applied for six which I was actually qualified for. (I'm not sure why I keep getting emails for jobs requiring ASP, .NET, Javascript, C#, and other things that I don't have listed in my profile...) Two are with Royal Bank of Canada (actually, RBC Financial Group), one with CIBC Mellon, two with Procom and one advertised by David Aplin Recruiting.

For once, while James Spader was used as comic relief on occasion, much of his storyline was actually fairly serious. He was asked to accompany another lawyer to Texas to present a last-minute argument in a death penalty case. Or perhaps, I should say, he was fairly serious when he wasn't riding a mechanical bull in a bar while wearing a ten-gallon hat.

Shatner, of course, was great. He and Candice Bergen were defending Shelley Long against charges of "obtaining sexual services by paying a fee" - basically, she'd hired a male prostitute on several hundred occasions. The scene in which Long becomes reacquainted with Shatner (they'd had a previous relationship) was a delight of comic timing:

Bergen: She's been charged with obtaining sexual services by paying a fee.
Shatner: You're a hooker?
Bergen: No, she's a nymphomaniac.

The judge was played by Henry Gibson - the character is a 70-year-old virgin. It seems that Shatner bought him off by, well, setting him up on a "date" with the client... there was some nice non-verbal interplay between Gibson and Long. Lots of nudge-nudge-wink-wink going on.

There was a nice scene with Monica Potter and Candice Bergen, as well. Potter's character, Lori Colson, is filing sexual harassment charges against Denny Crane:

Potter: I believe there is paperwork required. Please have it sent to my office. [walks away]
Bergen: That rotten bitch!

This ought to be an interesting storyline.

Rene Auberjonois didn't have much to do tonight, but he had an interesting bit with Rhona Mitra:

Auberjonois: Lori claims that Denny sexually objectifies her. Has Denny ever sexually objectified you?
Mitra: All men sexually objectify me.
Auberjonois: I don't.
[phone rings; Mitra picks it up and begins a conversation]
Auberjonois: I don't!!!

I got the biggest FUCKING hangover ever, which is weird because normally I don't get hung over at all. And I drank a tonne of water and rootbeer before bed, too. Weird.

It might have been the sugar in the rootbeer that made the hangover worse. You should have stuck to just water.

Or maybe you're just getting older and can't party all night any more. :P (You can smack me at the next TT meeting for saying that. ;) )

Funny, I can just see Rene Auberjonois saying something like that. And hearing it too. ;)

You really should watch the show. It's a hoot. :)

I have watched it. It's ok, but I don't have the deep seated desire to watch it every week.

What are you doing up so late? Ditto! :P

Ah. Okay, to each their own. Myself, I've kicked myself when I've realized that I've missed half an episode because I've been at the computer all evening.

What are you doing up so late? Ditto! :P

Yes, ma'am! :P
