Now that's hockey.

I just finished watching the NHL All-Star game. I like a good, clean bodycheck as much as the next hockey fan, but it's nice to see a game in which there's a constant flow of action with plenty of skills on display. Of course, I also end up feeling sad for the goalies because with no hitting, the score usually ends up something like tonight's (which was 8-7 for the Eastern Conference).
I didn't see much of the Leafs' representative, Tomas Kaberle, though the game summary at NHL.com says that he played 16:32. I guess he just didn't get involved in any spectacular plays, though I did see him save a goal in the second period by preventing a Western Conference player from being able to take a shot from the slot with an open net.
I'm feeling pretty drowsy this evening. I didn't go out last night as Yvonne called and suggested that, rather than my schlepping out to her and Lloyd's place to borrow their dolly, they would just come and pick me up, take me to Future Shop and bring me and my new laser printer back home, since they had to go downtown today anyway. I'm grateful, of course - since I didn't expect it - though the fact that they're morning people and I'm not meant that I had to be awake at 9:30 this morning to make sure that I was ready to go when they arrived.
But I now have a shiny new laser printer/copier/scanner. Which means that I no longer have to go to Kinko's when I have massive printing to do for Polaris (the inkjet just wasn't fast enough, and I always had to deal with clogged nozzles), and I can scan in my own old pictures to horrify you all. ;)
This is me with Vesta, my cat, whom I had to have put to sleep about three and a half years ago because she had cancer. This is the only photo I have of her... and it was taken at the vet's office, just before. Scott had come with me for emotional support, and I mentioned that I didn't have any pictures of her. He just happened to have his camera with him.

Here's one from Martin and Christina's wedding renewal ceremony, a few years before that. This is cropped, so you can't quite see that I'm carrying a tray. They had decided to have a medieval theme (yeah, I know I'm not quite "period", but I don't have any medieval costumes), and at one point someone yelled for a "wench". So I volunteered. :)

Here's one from a Toronto Trek Hallowe'en party. I'm tormenting
nexstarman, and that's
kanecool looking bemused:

And in the self-torture vein, here's a wedding picture from 1993. (But I'm not bitter. ;) ) This is the picture I had on my desk at Sears and CDS when I worked there:

One of my co-workers at Sears had taken up a collection for a gift, and gave me a picture frame. It seemed to me that it would be appropriate to use to display this photo. The funny thing was, despite my not being at all closeted at work, there were still some people who had no idea that I was marrying a man. When they found out, some of them (I don't know who - I learned this second-hand, several years later) went to the guy who had taken up the collection and asked for their money back. As it happened, the co-worker in question was a fellow gay man. Bad idea, telling a gay guy that you don't approve of gay relationships... naturally, he told them to piss off. :)
I may eventually get around to scanning and uploading more, but that's it for now. (And I hear a collective sigh of relief. ;) ) BTW,
the_nita, I remember some time ago I asked if you had any old FASS pictures from when I had long hair. Were you ever able to find them?

Date: 2008-01-28 04:09 am (UTC)I also uploaded one to my Facebook account in which I'm sitting with Andy Hallett (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0356468/) at a convention I co-chaired a few years ago.
I'll eventually get more up... I just have to decide which ones I want everyone to see. :)

Date: 2008-01-28 04:16 am (UTC)But if you're referring specifically to the wedding picture (as I suspect you are), that was taken on February 20, 1993, so I was 25. (Joe was 23.)
In the kilt picture, I'm about 34, and I'm 37 in the other two. (I look a lot younger than I am, which can be annoying at times when I get carded... as I did a few weeks ago.)

Thanks,
Andrew

Date: 2008-02-02 04:37 am (UTC)It is. :) Both times I've rented kilts for weddings, I've gone downtown wearing it. I tend to get a lot of attention on Church Street that way. :)

You expect me to remember where I had my hand 15 years ago? :P It was probably around his waist.

Nobody protested our wedding. That was his second wedding, to the guy he cheated on me with (not that I'm bitter). Ours was never legally recognized, though my employers did extend full spousal benefits to him.
