Worst. Bowling night. Ever.

lance_sibleyWell, maybe not worst - I probably did worse during the two months right after I hurt my arm two years ago and foolishly tried to bowl with the injury anyway. But certainly my worst night of the year by far.

What makes it worse is that we wasted an incredible declared score that Mario left us, including a 230 in the third game. Worse still, I went up in the tenth frame in each of the first two games with the chance to win both. (I'm normally the fourth bowler on the team, but in Mario's absence, I was the anchor. So I dragged us down like the wrong kind of anchor...) In the first game, I got a spare, and then needed 8 pins to tie, or 9 to win... and I got 7. In the second game, I again needed 8 to tie and 9 to win... and got 6. All I needed to do each time was put the ball in the pocket, and we probably would have won... and I couldn't do it. Mind you, it was a problem I was having all night, not just in the tenth frame. Had I gotten one more spare earlier, it wouldn't have been an issue, but it took six frames in the first game before I even got a mark. I would have had a double, in fact, except for the fact that the foul line registered that I'd gone over when I was still half an inch behind it. (I suspect I let my ball go before I got to the line, and it set the sensor off.)
The third game, we lost by nearly 60 despite Mario's 230.

I'm not sure what happened, exactly - I was feeling good, I got to the bowling alley early (thanks to actually catching the bus and not having to wait ten minutes for the next one), and I'd had a productive day (and week, in fact) at work, so I was in a fairly good mood.
It's going to be a long weekend full of meetings, so I should probably get to bed early tonight... but I hear the cookies-and-cream ice cream in the freezer calling my name.
