Betcha thought I'd gone away.

We'll start with a report on work.
There, that's it.
Yup, I've had nothing to do all week. It was decided that we shouldn't provide any new functionality until everything had been estimated and the cost of making the changes approved, and since our client was away all week, nothing has been done. (But since I had nothing else to do, I went ahead and did all the work anyway just to keep busy - we just won't actually implement it until it's been approved.) My boss did make a suggestion about getting me to do some work for another project he's got on the go that requires different software for development, so I started to download it. I got partway through it and we ran into a problem, so my boss suggested that he would walk Zak through it and then, once Zak got everything successfully installed, he would walk me through it. However, once Zak got everything, it was Thursday afternoon, and my boss has been leaving at 2:30 in order to be home when his daughter gets home from school. Then on Friday, he had meetings, so nothing has been done yet.
Bowling started up again last night: 177, 159, 154. Not bad for a few reasons: first, it was the first week back after the two-week Christmas break. Second, we were on lanes 31-32, which means that we were up against the left-hand wall on lane 31. That can be hell on anyone trying to shoot for the right hand side (and generally hell on Mario, because he starts on the extreme left hand side of the lane and throws a sweeping hook). Third, my arm didn't hurt all night. In fact, it hasn't been sore for a couple of weeks, while my left arm has been. (I think I might have strained something carrying all those boxes and crap from my apartment out to the recycling and garbage bins a few weeks ago.) Fourth, I closed the night out with a turkey (three consecutive strikes), which brought what had been a pretty poor game up into the realm of respectability. Pity we ended up losing the third game by over 200 pins (we were bowling with a dummy score, and two of their bowlers had 200 games.)
When I got home, I called
cuteteenboy and we had a good chat for about an hour. We made plans to go out tonight and again later this week - fortunately tomorrow's Polaris Exec meeting isn't at the crack of dawn. ;)
Then, today, we had a Programming meeting for Polaris. It was fairly sparsely attended, but those of us who were there went through the timeline, identified some tasks that need to be done, and started some topic brainstorming.
Following the meeting, I needed to use the facilities, but the men's room was out of order and the toilet in the women's room wouldn't flush (according to the person who came out while I was waiting), so I ended up walking down to Union Station and using the washroom there. I went down to the subway, and while waiting for my train, curse my freakish memory, I saw a familiar face. I wasn't certain, so as he walked by me, I said, "Tom?" He turned.
Yup, it was the guy I had a one-night stand with back in March. He looked at me - not a glimmer of recognition. (Not that I expected one - as I said, I have something of a freakish memory for some things, which is why I recognized
d0r0thy_zb0rnak one day about a year ago at Yorkdale when we'd never actually met in person up until that moment.)
So I said, "I'm Lance - we met back in March, at Woody's." (I was certain it was March because I remembered that it was just after I started at my job. Like I said, freakish.) He responded, "Oh, right. How are you?" Again, though, not even a glimmer of recognition crossed his face, so I just said, "Fine, thank you, and you?" and that was the extent of our conversation. I thought that maybe he might remember who I was with the memory jog, since it's not as though I've seen him in there since, but nope. (I could say something bitter and jaded about possible reasons for that, but I won't... and besides, it doesn't really bother me that he didn't remember me, though it might have been nice.)

I am so sorry that happened, but believe me, I've been in your shoes before, probably as often as you have! You just have to develop a thick skin after a while.
