Jeez... I signed up for Facebook less than four hours ago, and already I have 21 friends.

Makes up for seeing two people I know tonight and having neither of them bother to say hello. (Okay, the second one did, on the bus home, but not until after I said hello first... and I was standing right next to him.)

You're just a popular guy... who knows everyone! ;)

Popular? Nah. More like ubiquitous. ;)

Should be more because.....well.......you know everyone!

If I knew everyone, it would be several thousand already. ;)

I think it's up to 35 now... plus I send friend requests to [livejournal.com profile] hi_co and a guy I went to high school with, Warren.

I did find a couple of other people on there whom I know from outside fandom - a former bridge partner from the club I belong to, and Tom from a few weeks ago. I didn't send friend requests to either of them, though.

What I'm finding amusing is the people I know who are friending each other that I did not think knew each other but possibly do from fandom or who both live in Hamilton but I did not think knew each other. Very interesting.

The world is smaller than we realize, sometimes. :)

Pretty much everyone I've friended, I know from fandom or LJ - the only exception being Warren.

I see there's a "Six Degrees Of Separation" community - I should try to wangle an invitation (I see Connie McKenna from concom is a member - and you can't just join it, you have to be invited) because I was following links, and Tom's one and only Facebook friend is a member... ;)

(Obsessed? Me? Never.)

Is there anyone on my friendslist whom you're surprised to see there?

No, not really. But it's early days yet. I'm sure in a year or so I'll see some folks on there and wonder how the heck you knew them.

Maybe they didn't stop to say hi because you were drunk?

I don't know, just guessing here... :)

Nah, they were drunker. Trust me on that. (I honestly wasn't *that* drunk, really... I didn't go out until after midnight. Three pints just puts me in my happy place. I tend to be more of a morose drunk than one of those sloppy-happy-all-over-everyone types, at least when I'm downtown. When I'm out with friends all evening, or at a con, it's different.)

taka signed me up for this facebook thing, and then all of a sudden people i haven't seen in years (and in some cases, never actually met in real life) started adding me. Weird :D

Yeah, that's the drawback... I've heard of people who collect "friends" even though they don't actually know any of them. So far, all of my Facebook friends I actually know, either IRL or via LJ. And in the case of the LJ friends, so far they're pretty much the ones with whom I open up a lot anyway, so it's almost like I know them as well as anyone I've actually met.

(And then there are the ones whose online friendship led to a real-life meeting, like [livejournal.com profile] hoskie, [livejournal.com profile] evil_admiral, and [livejournal.com profile] mutarada.)

The only long-lost friend I sought out and sent a friend request to is one of the two people I actually liked in high school. I saw him a couple of years ago at a reunion, and wouldn't mind staying in touch.

Oh, and I did track down the guy I had that one-night-stand with a few weeks ago, but I didn't send him a friend request. It would probably be a bad idea...
