I got home about an hour ago from my bowling league banquet. It was less painful than it has been during most years. (Small praise, I know.) None of my teammates went, though Matthew, the guy who was filling in for Randy during the playoffs, was there (and in fact, I ended up sitting next to him during dinner). I didn't win anything (though this year's top 25 averages were lower than most years, I still missed out by about two pins), unless you count the HMV gift card I won in one of the door prize draws. Much more useful than the pool cue I won a couple of years ago (which has never been taken out of its case).
It was nice to see some of my old Wednesday session friends: Troy, Peeter, Steve and Don in particular. I also got to chat for a few minutes with Anton, the guy I mentioned a few weeks ago whom I knew in the Saturday morning kids' league and hadn't seen since 1985...
I walked over to his table, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, "Long time no see. 23 years, in fact."
He looked at me, puzzled, so I went on: "YBC, Saturday mornings at Thorncliffe."
Now he looked at me with anticipation, but still no recognition, so I told him my name, and his jaw dropped. We spent the next ten minutes or so chatting about what we'd each been up to since we last saw each other. That was kind of cool.
Anyhow, people starting leaving around 11 - there were just two people on the dance floor, trying to line dance to something completely inappropriate - so I finished my drink and left around then as well.
Matthew was taking pictures, so if/when he sends me the one he took of me, I'll post it. (I just friended him on Facebook, so hopefully that will remind him.) I think I looked pretty good tonight, if I do say so myself. :) It's amazing what a fresh haircut will do. Though my stylist is going to get upset at me again... well, he was completely booked and I was desperate. The cut looks good, but the colour didn't come out as light as it usually does. Ah, well.
angrykat will probably still say she hates it. ;)
Now I should probably go to bed... I have to be out in Mississauga at noon tomorrow.
