For anyone who's interested, the list of panels for Polaris 22 has been uploaded to the website. Have a look here. (Sorry, right now it's not set up to allow you to search by track; I don't even know if the content management system we use can do that, since there is no direct connection between the website and our database. However, the track(s) to which each panel belongs should be listed under the panel's description.)

This is by no means a final list - we'll be adding to it. If you want to make suggestions, the form is here. All panel suggestions become the property of Polaris; we make no guarantees that any ideas submitted will run, nor do we promise that we won't edit the panel description for length, grammar or content.

If you're coming to the convention, but have not yet signed up to be a panelist, there are two ways to go about it - if you're not yet pre-registered, please do so here (either through the online process or by printing and mailing the form), and check off the panelist box in the discounts section. If you are already pre-registered, but have not signed up to be a panelist yet, email us at panelist at tcon dot ca and we'll give you the link to the panelist signup form.

I learned something at work today.

There I was, writing a 400+ line SQL procedure to split the Chinese language code into two separate codes for Mandarin and Cantonese (I had to update the data in about a dozen tables, hence the massive procedure), and I thought, "hmm, I'd better go to the ISO website and get the correct abbreviations." A couple of Google searches later, and I came across the IANA language subtag registry. I started scrolling down, and came across:

Type: grandfathered
Tag: i-klingon
Description: Klingon
Added: 1999-05-26
Preferred-Value: tlh
Deprecated: 2004-02-24
Comments: replaced by ISO code tlh

Yeah, Klingon has its own ISO language code. I couldn't help but crack up, and then I had to explain what was so funny...

(And now, if you'll excuse me, I have Polaris work to do... as if I didn't already know I was a big geek. ;) )
