Toronto needs to annex Mississauga and extend the subway. Not only to the airport, which is a given for anyone who attends science fiction conventions here, but right out to Square One, and even further if possible.
Allow me to explain.
Got up around noon (I'm slipping again, despite having had to get up at 8:30 on Saturday on 1.5 hours of sleep). I left the apartment around 1:30 and headed westward, as I had to drop off a signed contract at Erin Mills Town Centre. No problem, I thought, as I had checked the various maps online last night; take the subway to Islington, any of three Mississauga Transit buses to Square One, transfer to the #34, and ride it to the end of the line. No problem, right?
I arrived at 4. 4 in the frigging afternoon. It took two and a half hours to get there. And then, after spending all of 15 minutes talking about this contract with the person I had gone out there to meet, I spent another two and a half hours to get home. And then I had to make dinner.
I could probably have faxed the damn thing and sent the original by mail, but I didn't expect it to take that long. I'm too accustomed to buses that go in straight lines, I guess.
On the plus side, as a result, anyone from out of town travelling to Toronto for Gaylaxicon 2006 will be able to get a convention rate via Air Canada. Watch the website for updates; it'll take about a week for our travel agent to finalize everything on her end. (And thanks are due to
whitesangria for setting it up!)
cuteteenboy called around 10 to ask me if I knew of anything Hallowe'en-related not taking place in a bar. Unfortunately, I didn't. I haven't done Church Street on Hallowe'en in... ever, come to think of it. I used to go to drag shows at Bar 501 on weekends, but they quickly got boring. The same songs, in the same order, every week, wears on a guy. And given that the average patron of Bar 501 is most definitely not my type (though that's where I met Dave McDowall in January 1998, but that's another story* ), I stopped going ages ago.
Anyway, I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Hallowe'en, or for those who celebrate it, Samhain.
