... except for the literally pointy bits, ie. the various needles. But more about that momentarily.

I had my doctor's appointment this morning at 10:30. I got there about 10:15 and filled out some paperwork, then the doctor came out and introduced himself to me, and had me go into his office where he asked me some questions about my medical history.

He then had me go into his examination room and get undressed, whereupon he basically did the same things they did at the emergency room last week. He poked and prodded me, listened to my heart and my lungs, took my blood pressure (it was a little higher today, but only somewhere around 110 over 65) and did another ECG. The only differences between today's exam and the last week's were that he also gave me a prostate exam (not as much fun as you might think - he needs to warm up his latex gloves) and a vaccination - apparently I was overdue for a tetanus booster.

Apparently the ECG abnormality they noticed last week is still within the normal range - it's just a mild electrical variance. That's a bit of a relief.

He didn't have the equipment in the office to be able to do the EKG then and there - instead, he gave me a list of places to call to make yet another appointment, and told me to call his office to make another appointment with him after I get the EKG to discuss the results.

Argh.

So I have yet another appointment, this time next Thursday morning at the crack of dawn. Fortunately it's not too far from here - it's a short bus ride up Avenue Road.

Oh, and following this morning's appointment, I had to go to a lab to have urine and blood taken for various tests. (I had a little trouble there - I hadn't had anything to drink since about 11 last night, and I'd gone to the bathroom this morning because I didn't know that I was going to have to pee on command.) Those results should come back in about five days.

I had to double back to the doctor's office afterwards because I'd had to write them a cheque for $125, which is an annual fee to cover items not covered by OHIP (for non-Ontarians: that's the provincial health insurance plan), like doctor's notes, phone calls to discuss test results and prescriptions, and so forth. While I was trying to pee, they called me to let me know that I'd forgotten my chequebook there. Oops. It was a bit of a pain because the doctor's office is four blocks east of here, and the lab is two blocks west and three blocks north, and it didn't seem worth waiting for the bus to go back and forth.

By this point it was only about 12, so I headed up to work and managed to put in about six hours. I got home around 9:15 and rushed through dinner in the hopes that Eric and I would be able to watch a Dead Like Me episode tonight, but he's still without Internet access. :( I'm not sure if it's because of the power failure they had last night or if it's because he got his new Macbook today and is still getting it set up. It was fun watching him being all bouncy with anticipation for the last week or so. :)
