Funny, when I saw the name of a one-night-stand in the newspaper, I didn't find it a bit jarring. On the other hand, I completely disagreed with his stance (he felt same-sex marriage was unnecessary).
I just don't expect to see the names of people I've known in one of our two national newspapers. ;) (Well, with one exception, but he's the CEO of Four Seasons Resorts, so he turns up in the business section occasionally. That's different.)
At least he wasn't being charged with some horrific crime. :)
I did find it interesting that he was with the same partner he had been with when he and I had the one-night stand
I would think that that would just prove that for him and his partner, he was right - marriage wasn't necessary for them to remain committed to each other. (Of course, everyone's mileage varies. I've been married once, albeit not in a legally recognized fashion, and wouldn't mind getting married again some day.)

Besides, probably half of my one-night stands have been with guys who were in relationships. Some of their partners knew, some didn't... one, as I recall, didn't admit to it until he was kicking me out afterwards. I ran into him with his bf in a Toys R Us near where I live last year. He didn't acknowledge me (or perhaps he didn't even recognize/remember me, I'm not sure).
Myself, I wouldn't cheat on someone I was committed to, but if someone else chooses to, they have to live with their own conscience. If they're going to sleep with someone anyway, why shouldn't it be me? ;)
