lance_sibley: (Strike)
Tonight could have been better, but it was certainly a step up from the past two weeks: 166, 140, 188. That second game was marred by a bit of an oops - at one point, Mario mentioned that there wasa a sticky spot on one of our lanes. A few frames later, Alan from the other team went ass-over-teakettle when his foot stuck on the same spot. And before we could get the maintenance guy to come over and have a look (since none of us could actually see anything on the lane), guess what happened to me? :(

And naturally, since I was in the act of throwing the ball at the time, my right arm was extended, and when I came down, most of my weight was on it. Ouch. :( And to make matters worse... I was on a strike, and I didn't manage to avoid the foul line.

So for the next several frames, until the break, I was extremely tentative on the approach and you just can't bowl that way - it's like a baseball pitcher deciding at the last second to throw the ball at half-speed for fear of hurting his arm.

In other news, it seems the folks at isithappening.com who posted the naked Jiri Tlusty photo yesterday got a nasty letter from a lawyer today, and the photos are no longer available. Sigh.

Tomorrow is my first completely free day in quite a while. I hope to get some cleaning and laundry done. Wish me luck. I was thinking about going out tonight, but it's been raining on-and-off all day (the snow doesn't seem to have hit Toronto yet, just Aurora) and I hate going out when it's like this. Besides, I've been having trouble getting up in the mornings lately, so I don't really need to sleep until 1 in the afternoon tomorrow.

Because I know that you're sitting there waiting with bated breath (well, those of you who aren't already over at TrekBBS devouring the Trek XI forum)...

IESB.com is reporting that Jennifer Morrison's manager has confirmed that she has been cast. There's no confirmation of the role she'll be playing, though they've engaged in a little speculation... spoiler? ) If the as-yet-unconfirmed rumour of Rachel Nichols being cast as Janice Rand are true, then that's certainly a possibility. But then who's playing Chapel (assuming that she's in the script - I haven't seen anything one way or the other)?

IESB.com has also reported that Chris Hemsworth, who was a regular on Home And Away as Kim Hyde for the past few seasons (his last episode listing on IMDb is from March, so I don't know if he's still on the show), has been cast. Initially the rumour was that he was going to be playing Sarek, but that's been corrected - he'll be playing George Samuel Kirk, Sr. That's right, Kirk's father. Since he's only 24, I suspect some Lost-style flashbacks going on. I suppose that could work, just so long as Baby!Kirk doesn't refer to Sarek as "Ambassador Pointy" and quote Zephram Cochrane speeches...

There's apparently a recent interview with Zachary Quinto in which he talks about walking onto the bridge set for the first time. I haven't been able to find it, but I did stumble over this article, which has an interesting casting spoiler in it. Funny thing is, the article is two weeks old and I hadn't read this anywhere else.

More news and rumours as I hear them. :)

I had planned a busy day:

  1. Buy groceries.

  2. Clean kitchen.

  3. Clean bathroom.

  4. Clean living room.

  5. Do laundry.

  6. Check with superintendent about getting a storage locker downstairs, and if one was available, move all the crap that's in my dining room down there.

  7. Clean dining room.

Actually accomplished:

  1. Went to Starbucks.

  2. Took my coffee to Indigo, where I browsed through this month's Advocate. (What did they do to it? Ugh.)

  3. Bought groceries.

  4. Read half of front section of today's Globe and Mail. (Enjoyed sense of schadenfreude at Stephen Harper giving in and initiating a probe into the Mulroney/Schreiber affair.)

  5. Started to clean kitchen.

  6. Went back out to replenish cleaning supplies. Picked up sponges, Vim Oxy-Gel and rubber gloves to replace the ones that had disintegrated. (Are sponges an endangered species? All I could find in three stores were the little itty-bitty ones you use for washing dishes.)

  7. Cleaned kitchen. (That Vim Oxy-Gel is amazing stuff.)

  8. Didn't notice it was 6pm, and missed Blood Ties. :(

Now, with all that said... my kitchen is nearly spotless. Sure, it could use another going-over with the mop to pick up a little bit of gunk that just got pushed around instead of picked up, but I don't think it's been this clean since I moved in here ten years ago. (Wow, I just realized, this month is my ten-year anniversary in this apartment...)

Problem is, spending an hour on my hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor with a stiff brush has left me with no energy for anything else on my list. The second problem is, with my kitchen floor still damp, I can't make dinner yet, and I'm starving... maybe I should order in Chinese. I wonder if The Goof delivers to this neighbourhood.
