That was a long night...
Sep. 30th, 2007 07:52 pmLast night started off fairly sedately... I got a call from
whitesangria around 6:30 inviting me out for drinks at a pub downtown around 8. I got there around 8:30 and joined her,
kaelsu2 and
protegeboy. Declan and
aprilsnark joined us a little later, and we had a good evening of conversation.
twiddler showed up just as we were leaving, around 11:30 or so, I think it was.
I'd gotten a call earlier from
cuteteenboy asking if I wanted to hang out, so after leaving, Declan and I went up to Church and Wellesley to meet up with him, his ex-bf Jack and his friend Adrian, and we went to Pegasus.
Last night was Nuit Blanche, an all-night arts festival taking place at multiple venues around the city, so Pegasus was staying open later than usual. Around 2, they started showing Rocky Horror; apparently Adrian had never seen it before, and
cuteteenboy kept explaining stuff to him. Anyway, at one point
cuteteenboy said to me, "Oh, there's that cute guy we noticed last time we were here."
Small sidebar: earlier in the evening, when I was with the first group,
mzrowan's name had come up (I don't recall the exact context). I said, "Oh, yes, I know her - I met her through theatre in university," to which
whitesangria said, "You did theatre with everyone in university." I just sort of shrugged (ha, ha, Lance knows everyone).
How is this relevant? Well, the cute guy that
cuteteenboy pointed out was sitting with someone. I didn't really take too much notice (I'd left my glasses at home again, and since they were showing Rocky Horror, the lights weren't up very bright), until later, when I realized that the other guy was someone else I used to know from the same theatre company, whom I've seen in Woody's a few times over the last year or so. (For the FASS people reading this: remember Brian - sorry, I don't remember his last name, which I know is very little help - from FASS '90, who played Don Juan? Seems he came out a few years ago.) So I got up and went over to say hello. A few minutes later
cuteteenboy came over and said, "Wait a second, what's going on here?" (Maybe he thought I was trying to pick up the cute young guy, which would be rather out of character for me?) So I introduced them, and all seemed well.
Over the course of the next hour, though, it transpired that Brian made passes at Declan, Jack, and
cuteteenboy - and the passes he made at Declan and Jack were in the bathroom. I'm sorry, I don't care if you like dick, the bathroom is not for picking up. Not even in a gay bar. That's just creepy.
Anyway, when we were leaving around 4:15 or so, I went to the bathroom and ran into Brian in there. I said, "Congratulations - you've managed to freak out all of my friends." He was all innocent - "What???" I told him he was being too aggressive and inappropriate. Apparently he didn't take the hint, though, and proceeded to make an extremely aggressive pass at
cuteteenboy - though then he put his foot in his mouth and pissed
cuteteenboy off, so we all left. (I'm sure I'll get an earful next time I bump into Brian at Woody's, because apparently he said, "Where does Lance get off telling you these things? He may have known me 17 years ago, but he doesn't know me now." Maybe not, but I can still tell when someone's being a creep. I don't care if I used to know them or I just met them.)
Jack had left a while earlier, so the rest of us went to the Golden Griddle for food. After that, Adrian was going to crash at
cuteteenboy's place, so Declan and I walked them down to Union Station so that they could get a GO bus to Mississauga. By this time, it was about 5:30 in the morning, and the streets were closed because there was a 10K run going on. As a result of the street closures, the GO buses weren't actually stopping at the station, but rather at York and Bremner, on the other side of the Air Canada Centre. So Declan and I walked them over there (
cuteteenboy wasn't sure where the intersection of York and Bremner was), and then we said goodnight and headed back over to get the Yonge Street bus.
By this time, the run had already started, so traffic was being held on Front Street until the runners passed Yonge. The TTC driver let us onto the bus on Front, though, so we could sit. Once we got onto Yonge (7ish?), and the bus filled up (I guess a lot of people did the all-night thing) and actually started moving, Declan started to doze off. I very nearly dropped off as well, but managed to stay awake. We both got off at Eglinton, and he went to catch the westbound bus, and I walked home. It was 8:15 when I got in, and 8:20 or so by the time I got into bed. (I probably should have stayed up, but I can't stay up for 36 straight hours any more.)
I woke up around 1, but I wasn't ready to get up yet, so I went back to sleep, woke up around 3:15. I went out to caffeinate myself and get my Metropass and YRT pass for October, then came back home, made dinner, and now am ready to watch Desperate Housewives. I wonder if I'll manage to fall asleep tonight... I want to be in fairly good shape tomorrow as I may be meeting Ambrose for dinner (when we spoke yesterday he couldn't remember if he was free tomorrow or Tuesday, but he knew it was only one of those nights).
