lance_sibley: (wake me up)
This has been another weekend-o-meetings - they were long, but useful.

My phone call with [livejournal.com profile] ennisdl on Friday night ended around midnight, so I decided to go out after all. However, I found myself not really in the mood to be there once I was there - I found it extremely warm and I was really uncomfortable. (Wearing my leather jacket in a bar that was packed so full of people that it was impossible to move was probably not the wisest clothing choice.) Besides, I had to be up by 8:30 to get to my 10am meeting on Saturday, so I ended up leaving after one beer.

Saturday's meeting for Polaris department heads (of which I'm not one, but as a Chair Advisor and member of the Executive, I was entitled to be there - besides, I was kinda-sorta filling in for [livejournal.com profile] ennisdl) started a little late, but that couldn't really be helped as we had to set up the room before we could start the meeting, and everyone with laptops and other equipment had to plug everything in. We broke for lunch around 1:30, and I decided to walk over to the Eaton Centre and grab something at the food court. I love the Bourbon Street Grill, but it was waaaay too much food for lunch.

My turn to report came during the second half of the meeting, and apparently I cemented my title as the Queen Of TMI when it came time to give the Programming department's report. I was talking about some technical issues that would possibly require us to borrow some computer equipment, and a few months ago I put the necessary people in touch with the guy who ran Torcon's Internet Lounge, whose name is Colin McGregor. But for some reason, his name came out "Colin McKechnie". I stopped, frowned, and said, "No, not Colin McKechnie, he was a guy I had a one-night stand with five years ago. I mean Colin McGregor." And the room broke up. Apparently this was TMI. *shrug* They should be used to me by now. And it's not as though I haven't said much, much worse things deliberately... I wasn't even trying to shock people. It was just one of those, "Where the heck did that come from?" moments - I haven't seen Colin McKechnie since then, so I don't know why his name popped into my head, apart from the similarity to the name I was actually trying to come up with.

We wrapped up around 6, I think, after which a small group of us went for Japanese food for dinner. I wasn't terribly hungry, having eaten such a large lunch, but I figured that if I didn't eat, I probably wouldn't eat until midnight. So I forced myself to eat again.

I got home around 9ish, I think it was, and after reading the paper, decided to go out yet again despite the fact that I had to be up by 10 this morning to get to yet another meeting, this one being scheduled for noon. Nothing exciting happened, however, and I was in bed by about 3.

Today I managed to make it over to the TCON Board meeting about half an hour early. Again, it was a longish meeting, but useful and productive, and I went for dinner with [livejournal.com profile] twiddler, [livejournal.com profile] whitesangria and [livejournal.com profile] ennisdl where, surprisingly, the conversation did not revolve solely around the con. *grin*

[livejournal.com profile] twiddler dropped me off at home around 9:30, and now it's about time to go to bed so that I can get up in the morning. I don't want to be late tomorrow or Tuesday because I would like to leave a little earlier on Tuesday - yes, I have another Polaris meeting. We're having the hotel tour, followed by a full committee meeting.
