Polaris would like to welcome three new guests to our line-up!
Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi, Star Trek: The Next Generation)
It was Marina's riveting portrayal of Deanna Troi, the psychic counselor, for seven years on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as her co-starring role with Patrick Stewart in the feature films Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and in the most recently released, Star Trek: Nemesis that has brought her legions
of fans throughout the galaxy. Other credits of interest include television appearances on Earth: Final Conflict, and Stargate SG-1, as well as lending her vocal talents to the the award
winning animated series Gargoyles.
Julie E. Czerneda
2007 marks ten years since Canadian science fiction writer Julie E. Czerneda’s first novel, A Thousand Words for Stranger. Ten novels, twelve anthologies, and numerous short stories later, she’s just getting started. Besides a special anniversary edition of her first novel in August, look for these other titles this year: Under Cover of Darkness, co-edited with Jana Paniccia, Polaris: A Celebration of Polar Science, and Ms. Czerneda’s new novel, Stratification #1: Reap the Wild Wind, prequel to her Trade Pact series, in stores this September. Douglas Smith
One of the top writers of speculative short fiction in Canada, Douglas Smith’s stories have appeared in 21 languages and almost 100 professional magazines and anthologies. He has been a finalist for the John W. Campbell Award, and is the only writer to win the Aurora Award in both English and French categories. Mr. Smith is currently working on his first novel based on his Aurora Award winning short story, "Spirit Dance."
