Is the momentum dying out already?

A few things I observed this weekend make me think that people are starting to feel the end-of-summer blues. The Gaylaxicon committee meeting was notable mostly for who didn't show up, which was somewhat distressing. (A couple of people had legitimate reasons for not making it, but most people just didn't show up.) We made some decisions which had been deferred from the previous meeting in the hope that more people would show up for this one, but fewer people actually showed up, so we just went ahead and made the decisions anyway. Argh. Most frustrating.

Then, Sunday, we had a barbecue for the Toronto Trek concom. Once again, fewer people showed than I would have hoped. Those of us who made it did manage to enjoy ourselves, however, and also got a teensy bit of business accomplished. Plus I learned just how ticklish Dave E. is...

The point is, momentum is a tricky thing. Once it starts to drop, it's difficult to ramp it up again. I'm hoping that it's just a temporary lull.
