Aug. 21st, 2005 05:00 amI really did say I wasn't going to turn the computer on when I got home... ha! Foiled again...
I was at the Doctor Who Information Network's summer barbecue/pool party all day. (Well, I didn't get up until 2:30, and had to go shopping for the food I had promised to bring and the alcohol I wanted to bring, so I didn't actually arrive until about 4.) I didn't take my bathing suit because it was threatening to rain, but it held off. The biggest problem was the wasps - there were a dozen of them buzzing around the table where we were trying to eat. :( Otherwise it was a nice day - as usual, I ate too much, but drank just the right amount. :) I got home at about 1:30, and it took me until now (5 o'clock) to get through my email and two days' worth of my friendslist. Oy. Fortunately the 200-250 or so emails I've been getting per day (mostly on the SMOFS list and the Toronto Trek chat list) didn't materialize today, so I didn't have a lot to catch up on there. I only had about 50 or so, and most of them were on the SMOFS list because everyone has just returned from Worldcon and is in a chatty mood.
Going back to yesterday... I had to go out in the afternoon to pick up something at the store, and when I was on my way home the sky was a beautiful shade of deep green. I was a little nervous about being out, because a green sky means tornadoes, and in fact, I heard that one touched down in Fergus. I haven't heard about the extent of the damage, though (I didn't get a chance to read today's paper yet). I don't know why drivers refuse to slow down when there's a torrential downpour, though... I got soaked by drivers going through puddles at 50 kph despite being a good 3-4 metres away from the curb.
I really ought to go to bed... I have an appointment to get my hair done at 4 tomorrow afternoon so that I'll look pretty for my job interview at Dominion Of Canada Insurance Tuesday afternoon and Honda on Wednesday afternoon. Wish me luck!

This enigmatic screen legend is known for her
unparalleled beauty and mysterious nature.
Never married, and often reclusive, she enjoyed
private time to herself and never played the
Hollywood game, preferring instead to create a
meaningful private life that was out of the
limelight. She enjoyed a simple life of waking
up early, being outdoors often, and eating
healthy food.

And she wouldn't hurt a fly - I used to work with her at Sears ten years ago.
This was referring to the woman who sat across from me at Manulife, who was as annoyed as I with the noisy neighbour who kept holding meetings in her cubicle.
