I should have been an accountant...
Mar. 27th, 2005 09:13 pmIt was a beautiful day out today, and I spent three hours of it working on a spreadsheet to try to figure out if we needed to rejig the panel counts for each track at Toronto Trek to accommodate another department. *sigh*
(Fortunately, we don't. At least, it doesn't appear that we do.)
I did spend some time out today; I bumped into Nathan, one of the young guys who used to work at the Starbucks I go to. I hadn't seen him in a few months; it seems he's managing a new store elsewhere. I used to bump into him and one of the other guys who used to work there (whose name I never got) at Woody's, but I haven't been there in quite a while.
Surprisingly, Indigo was open today, so I spent about half an hour looking at computer books while I drank my coffee. They had this huge box set of .NET/C# books and software for $220; and I mean huge. I would have needed both hands to carry it home, it was so heavy. Strangely, another box that seemed to contain about half of the material of the larger one, from the same publisher, was $250. I flipped through a couple of other books, but didn't buy anything.
I found something interesting last night.
montrealais, you may be interested if you didn't know about it already: Pet Shop Boys At Dead Of Night has MIDI files available for download. (Yes, "Miracles" is one of the songs. ;)) If I had a cell phone, I would now have my choice of 82 PSB ringtones. Assuming I could make a decision. There is such a thing as being spoiled for choice. I might just be bloody-minded enough to use "The Night I Fell In Love", which is about a 17-year-old boy who goes to see Eminem in concert and ends up spending the night with him. (Okay, when I saw the Boys in concert, Neil Tennant didn't admit that it was Eminem. But it's pretty obvious.) Or maybe "The Truck Driver And His Mate"... unfortunately, "Delusions Of Grandeur" isn't one of the available songs. Nor is their version of "Somewhere". *sigh*
Finished the last of the chili tonight. I didn't even miss the chili powder. In fact, despite the fact that one could hardly call it "chili" without there being any chili in it, I thought it was pretty good. For my cooking, at least. After yesterday's shopping, I think it's going to be pretty much nothing but pork chops and chicken for the next couple of weeks; so if I stop posting suddenly, you know I've given myself salmonella poisoning, or I've set the apartment on fire again by putting the chicken too close to the broiler and having the butter splatter. (Okay, I didn't set the entire apartment on fire last time; just the oven.)
