Just because Theodore's having a bit of an off-year doesn't mean the Canadiens should have given up on him - unless there's something they know that I don't? Maybe the Propecia story is covering up something more?
I rant about Belfour's stats being below standard this year, but Belfour's 40 years old - Theodore's 29. Sure, Aebischer's a little younger (he just turned 28) and his stats are pretty impressive, but only marginally better than Theodore's.
I just don't see the point of this trade - unless both players wanted out of their respective cities, and the GMs just figured it was an even swap.
(FYI, Hackett's got a 2.39 GAA with three shutouts in 27 games for Philadelphia this year. That's hardly terrible. And looking over his career stats, I don't think it was necessarily his fault that the Canadiens missed the playoffs all those years. The two seasons when he was their #1 goalie, his GAA was 2.34 and he had eight shutouts.)
