Ok, that is just sad, and ultimately only adds fuel to the general public view that Star Trek movies suck. ST movies have a history of having trailers which are pretty close to being polar opposites of the actual movie story / plot. The trailers make the movie 'seem' to go right, people get hyped about it, and then the movie goes left. End result: people are disappointed as they were fooled into spending their $$$ on one thing, and received something else.
Making footage specific for a trailer is just bad news. Why can't they use regular footage? Is the movie really going to be that bad? Is paramount so scared that it will suck? If the movie has any feet to it, they should be able to use regular footage and not worry.
