CNN reports that People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals have asked the Pet Shop Boys to change their name.

Their suggestion? "Rescue Shelter Boys".

That's almost as stupid as the whole "sea kitten" debacle from a few months ago.

Someone over at TrekBBS made the comment, "I didn't even know they were still around." Their new album is #3 on the Billboard charts... the first single, "Love etc.", is #8.

I just spent an hour fighting with my scanner to get it to scan documents to PDFs instead of BMPs.

Figuring out how to go about changing the settings should not have been that complicated. Of course, it would have helped if I had remembered that the only manual I have is in virtual form... or, if there was a hard copy, where I'd put the stupid thing. That might have saved me 15 minutes.

Now I just need to figure out what the settings need to be to reduce the file size to something reasonable. At least Yahoo didn't puke when it tried to attach them to the emails I was sending... unlike the previous twelve attempts.

Mind you, today has been a stupid day overall. It's a good thing my boss doesn't mind if I get in ridiculously late... because I managed to sleep through all of my alarms again. Let's just say that most of you in the Eastern time zone were probably already back from lunch by the time I got to work. It was suggested that I rig up some kind of system so that the alarm clock triggers a sprinkler over my bed. Though I'd probably find a way to sleep through that, too.

I was halfway from the bus stop to the office this morning when I realized I'd left my expensive, humungous golf umbrella on the bus. *headdesk* (I don't play golf, I just like staying dry under an umbrella that doesn't turn inside out at the slightest hint of a breeze; this one has a second layer of fabric designed to catch the wind so that it doesn't. Those little $10 ones are useless.)

Of course, YRT's lost-and-found phone line is a voice mailbox rather than a live person.
